The Chart of accounts used for each company is defined under General Ledger -> Setup -> Ledger (you can only do this before transactions occur).
To set up a new account go to General Ledger -> Setup -> Chart of accounts -> Chart of Accounts.
Click the New button and create a new account. You can create the main accounts manually or with an import from an Excel spreadsheet. Within this form it’s now possible to define multiple sets of Chart of Accounts. The accounts for each given Chart of accounts are automatically present in all companies that point in the Ledger setup to this chart of accounts.
Localized settings can be maintained in edit mode on the Chart of accounts by selecting the companies a setting is valid for – to do this go to General Ledger -> Common -> Main accounts
